Artist statement

Amanda is a conceptual visual artist working with a range of media, including textiles, sculpture, found objects and performance. Her career in the health and social care sector has had a profound influence on her creative practice, which explores and questions contemporary issues important to her and common to us all. Her work draws upon materials from a range of sources to develop ideas, altering found and personal objects, displacing their focus from the practical to the aesthetic. She is increasingly interested in involving others in projects – believing that collaborative art is a powerful political tool to encourage individual reflection, promote discussion, instigate community and challenge existing ideas.
