Artist statement
Bryan Rawlings has had a long career in commercial sculpture, during which he has made major public works for prestigious locations worldwide. In 2022 he took an MA in Fine Art at Bath Spa University, following which he was awarded a residency at Emerge. Bryan has made and exhibited a substantial body of work – both paintings and sculptures. Bryans sculptures are abstract, visual in essence, and informed by his synaesthesia, through which visual forms have distinct characters. For his paintings he adopts a different approach, starting with representational drawing, developing into meaningful abstract forms.
