Elizabeth Royle is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on ceramics and textiles. She is interested in how the two disciplines can intertwine and merge to form new outcomes. A lot of Elizabeth’s work is made intuitively, and is dependent on the materials used. She enjoys experimenting with new processes and incorporating these into her practice. Elizabeth enjoys looking into themes of texture, layering and abstraction, which are reflected in many of her pieces. In her recent ceramic sculpture, Black Holes and Revelations (2024), carved holes in grogged clay represent the gaps between the threads in knit and crochet, which assume an abstract appearance when magnified.
