Artist statement
Emily is a Somerset-based ceramic artist, making slow, small batch ceramic objects that invite a sense of ritual and moments of quiet, sensory connection into our everyday lives. Instinctively gravitating towards repetitive and laborious processes that require a state of almost devotional making, her process often culminates in a form of shrine-making. The impact of these objects reaches far beyond our lifetime, and sustainable production is fundamental to Emily's practice; all pieces are carefully considered, with minimal firing, and a rigorous commitment to utilising predominantly reclaimed or sustainably sourced materials.
