Artist statement
Femke Henzen is a multidisciplinary artist and director focused on short films and community-building. Through props and costumes, she explores how cultural traditions shape our relationships with ourselves and others, emphasising the interplay between national and gender identity. Her work creates immersive worlds for reflection and connection. Femke has curated exhibitions on women in film and photography (2020 and 2021) and established community-based workshops that foster collaboration. Having recently completed her second short film, she is now developing a solo show, set to premiere in October 2025, showcasing her unique blend of storytelling, theatre and film.
