Kristina Isabelle Grace Hughes
Artist statement
Kristina Hughes is a South West-based UK 3D mixed-media artist, who studied a BA in Creative Arts Practice at Bath Spa University. She participates in collaborative exhibitions including Fringe Arts Bath. Though her practice is typically ceramics, she loves to dives down creative rabbit holes that explore how the showmanship of immersive lighting, optical illusions and experimental filming can ‘activate’ pieces, elevating them from a perceived object to a sense or experience – the ephemeral made immortal via memory. She is heavily inspired by nature, and infuses her work with fantastical themes that draw upon TV, films and video games. She tries to convey her own nostalgia for these influences, so the audience can revel in them too.
