Artist statement
Lola Bennett is a 2023 Bath Spa University graduate with a First Class degree in Creative Arts Practice. She is also the 2023/2024 Spike Island Graduate Resident Fellowship recipient. Bennett is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice weaves ceramics and textiles to explore themes of nostalgia, memory, vulnerability, and the complexities of domestic & young adult life – in particular isolation. Drawing from her background in heritage-based crafts like quilting and needlepoint, Bennett’s work reflects on the narratives embedded in traditional female labour and challenges perceptions of craft and art.
