Sonya Wilkins
Artist statement
Sonya makes ceramics from her studio in Bleadon Village, Somerset. Since receiving her BA in 1995 and teaching ceramics at Clifton High School (Bristol), she has diversified her skills as both a Reiki Master Teacher and a Master of Fine Art at BSU, 2023. During this time, she answered the question ‘Can ceramics become activators for wellbeing?’ and now enjoys blending her two worlds of healing and clay. In 2020 her ceramics aired on BBC2’s ‘The Great British Menu’, and ITV, with Alan Titchmarsh. Her authentic connection to nature directly informs her work, and is amplified by her use of Reiki energy. She also offers ‘Biophilia & Creativity’ workshops and curates wellbeing installations, so communities can benefit from increased wellbeing.
