Artist statement

Tiger’s design ethos is all about combining traditional craftsmanship with computer aided manufacture. In a rapidly developing world, he finds that mass-produced furniture is losing key elements that were found in traditional craftsmanship. His practice is centered around bringing beauty and longevity to modern CNC furniture, and he has done this by creating a CNC joint that is at the centre of his new collection. Tiger has called the joint ‘Kumiko Flower’, because it was inspired by traditional Japanese joinery of the same name. By combining traditional and modern craftsmanship, he hopes to bring beauty and skill into CNC furniture.
