Artist statement
Tom is a painter and practice-led researcher. He has a PhD from Bath Spa University which explores how a critical (scholarly) stutter and a clinical (verbal) stutter can be used as a mode of painting – or visual stuttering – to disrupt and expand traditionally held notions in painting. He has held and curated exhibitions in London, Bath and Worcester. His current practice revolves around painting’s complicated relationship with time to explore the domestic interiors we live in, and objects we surround ourselves with. He is always keen to work with, and learn from, other artists who share similar interests.
